Inmate who escaped in Wapato quickly re-captured

WAPATO, WA - Wapato Police quickly captured an inmate shortly after he escaped Tuesday afternoon.

Police say 30 year old Amando Ramos escaped from the Wapato Municipal Jail around 3:30 p.m. and was caught with out incident soon after.

Ramos was originally in custody on a charge of 2nd degree burglary of a business that happened on February 28th in Wapato and on a Wapato Municipal Court warrant.

He was released from the Yakima County Department of Corrections on pre-trial supervision for the burglary.

He was then transferred to the Wapato Municipal jail on March 1st on the warrant.

He now faces a felony charge of escape in the 2nd degree.

An internal investigation will be conducted into the matter.
