Kennewick's farmers market moving from Southridge to downtown

KENNEWICK, WA - The Kennewick farmers market is moving this summer! It has most recently been held Thursdays at the Southridge Sports Complex. Now, it will be downtown.

The Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership recently bought the rights to the market. It was a bit of a 'pie in the sky' idea to start with but quickly turned into reality. Organizers are planning to block off part of Benton Street at the corner of Kennewick Avenue. They will have plenty of space in the plaza and the street for vendors - which, they're already looking for.

"What I'm really excited to have down here are the farmers. Obviously, we want to have the fruits and vegetables. But, we're also excited to have the crafts and the daily wares that people want to come down and buy. The people that make their own products, things you can't get anywhere else," said Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership executive director Dan Smith.

The downtown farmers market will be every Thursday evening from June to October. Businesses there will be asked to stay open a little longer. Plus, the farmers market will coincide with other long-standing monthly events like First Thursdays and the downtown Kennewick art walk.
