KENNEWICK, WA. -- Firefighters in Kennewick are still working to figure out what started a fire a unit at an apartment complex caught fire.

It happened around 4 Thursday afternoon at the Edison Village Green Apartments off of Edison Street. Where a second story unit caught fire.

The building was evacuated while firefighters worked to get the fire under control. We talked with one man who helped pull a woman to safety.

"People were standing around and kept saying there was someone inside the apartment as it was lit up," Irnieo Leos said. "So I ran up the stairs, kicked in the door down to make sure there was nobody in there and kind of cleared it out. Then, helped this lady get out of her apartment because of the smoke damage. And then she ended up passing out here because of her asthma. So we ended up carrying her up here over to the ambulance to make sure she gets the proper treatment."

That woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. Firefighters were able to get the fire out pretty quickly. There is damage to one of the units and part of the attic.
