Yakima, WA - Have you signed the pledge yet? A pledge to put down your phone and other electronics today, forget about the status updates and social media posts.  It's a 24-hour challenge that goes from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.  Time for you to relax and "unplug" to fully enjoy the world around you, and here in the Pacific Northwest there is no shortage of outdoor activities to enjoy.

Cabela's Outfitters in Union Gap is the perfect place to get some tips for great places to visit outdoors.  The store has held their own "Disconnect Day" campaign and knows great spots to check out.

"Two of my favorite spots here locally are the Ahtanum State Forest and Rim Rock National Recreation area," said Curtis Frisbie, Marketing Manager at Cabela's.  Two of many great hiking trails, rivers, and campgrounds, just a quick drive down the road.

So take advantage and participate in National Day of Unplugging, March 4-5, and discover Washington.  It's time to appreciate the world around you, because did you know, that the average American child spends seven hours in front of an electronic screen daily? And adults, are no exception, most workdays consist of eight hours of screen time.
