Man talks about losing his family home in a fire just hours and making it out safely

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA- Less than 24 hours since Pedro Ayala's family home went up in flames and we sat down to talk with him about how he and his family are doing.

He told us he still can't believe it and feels like it's a nightmare he hasn't woken up from, "you never think something like this will happen, until you have it in front of your eyes, you're like oh my god is this really happening". When we met with him a couple hours after the incident happened he was thankful for the two men who knocked on the door of their home, walking up his mom and telling her about the fire happening in the garage.

Pedro teared up thinking about his parents. He told us, it hasn't truly set in, "what's going to happen tonight when they realize they can't go back to their house and their bed".  For the next few days Pedro and his parents will be staying at his sister's house.

All he is asking for now, is to meet the two men who saved their lives.
