Mid-Columbia Libraries and the Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosting workshops for Latino Community

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, WA- The Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce and the Mid-Columbia Libraries Pasco Branch have teamed up to form the Tri-Cities Latino Community Network to host workshops on topics affecting the Latino community.

The workshops, called "Conozca Su Comunidad," or "Know Your Community," are in all Spanish.  Saturday's session was about health awareness, which included information on diabetes prevention and healthy foods.

The library believes it is important to host these seminars because it helps a large part of our community.

"Two things that rose to the top again and again were language barrier and a lack of knowledge of resources.  There are resources, a lot of times people just don't know how to find those resources," said Annie Warren, Communications Coordinator for Mid-Columbia Libraries.

There are two more workshops on April 16th and April 23rd.  Both are at the Pasco branch and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
