Wings for Wishes takes flight!

WEST RICHLAND, WA.-- This weekend, Wishing Star teamed up with the Academy of Model Aeronautics to host the fifth annual Wings for Wishes event. Over 40 pilots showed up in West Richland to fly their model planes for a good cause. The profits from the event are donated to grant a wish for children in Spokane and the Tri-Cities. Wishing Star Executive Director, Dan Curley, was one of many who was appreciative of the communal efforts.

"We couldn't exist as an organization and support children and families with life threatening illnesses if people like the AMA didn't come together as a community to help us out. "This is actually how this organization was founded just by concerned people in the community who wanted to help children who were going through these tough difficult situations. So, it really just means the world to us."

This year, the event raised over 6 thousand dollars. The next wish recipient is a young girl with multiple sclerosis, whose wish, Curley told KNDU, has a princess theme to it.
