Firefighters called to action for a Kennewick house-fire

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA.-- A number of concerns due to this week's heat wave have been brought to our attention, fire being one of them. Unfortunately, this concern became a reality today as a fire erupted at a house on North Quebec Street in Kennewick. Because of the already scorching temperatures outside, more firefighters were brought to the scene to help contain the flames.
While the cause of the fire is still undetermined, Kennewick's Fire Chief gave us a synopsis of what has happened so far.

"The call came in, we had a couple passersby call it in initially and then we got follow up reports from neighbors, etc. Units responded, we did find one person who had just been extricated by a neighbor. The fire is under control, but we are continuing to investigate. At this point we are going to call it suspicious in nature."

Chief Beasley also said that the man that was taken out of the house tried to go back inside but was stopped by firefighters. Assumed to be in his 60's, the man was taken to a local hospital for burns but is expected to be OK.
