Golden Anniversary tape hidden inside Titanic VHS case

YAKIMA, WA - A golden gift was hidden inside Union Gospel Mission's Thrift Store in Yakima, and the shop did everything they could to find its rightful owners.

If you walk inside the Olde Lighthouse Shoppe, you'll see fine china, furniture, and a bookshelf lined with old VHS tapes. The managers don't usually look inside the cases, but they randomly took a chance with a copy of The Titanic one day...and what they found wasn't The Titanic, it was even better.

"He just brought it to our attention and he said, 'Should I throw this away?' And we said, 'No, wait, don't throw it away'," Manager Debbie Jones and assistant manager Robbin Parsley told us. "Whoever donated this is in big trouble."

What they found inside was a golden anniversary tape, so the two made a video about it and posted it on Facebook.

"It doesn't say Titanic," the two announce in their Facebook video, "it says 'Mom and Dad's Golden Anniversary'." They hoped the video would help them find the rightful owner of the tape. "So if your Mom and Dad's golden anniversary is August 4th, 1996, you better come to the Lighthouse Shoppe," they say in the video they made.

With some help, Laura Sewell and her father came to the shoppe to get back their family memory.

"She was so excited," Debbie shared, "it was really neat to be able to see that."

"Yeah, she actually had it in her shed in the back of her house and someone had stolen stuff from her shed," Robbin said, "so yeah, she didn't even know it was actually gone yet."

It was a happily ever after for the lighthouse duo, but this happens more often than people think.

"We were just thinking, yeah, that was meant to be, it was awesome. A lot of people come in like: 'Oh no, my husband donated the china, can I get it back?'"

The two are always very understanding of these situations, and are now searching for the owner of a painting, with the name "George" on the back.

So if there's a George looking for a missing painting, the Lighthouse Shoppe is waiting for you.
