Hit-and-run turns into potential felony case

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, WA.-- This morning, a man driving a white pickup truck was going too fast on the road. The wheels of the vehicle spin out, and the car crashed into a fence outside of J&L Hydraulics. The driver then tried to move the truck further through the fence, as if to break it and drive away. When he was unsuccessful, he jumped out of the truck and walked away from the scene.

Officers found him not long after, and despite his insistence that he was not involved, a passerby's picture confirmed that he was the driver.

However, the story didn't end there.

After posting the case to Facebook, Pasco Officers got a call from a man claiming to be the owner of the truck; he told them that it was stolen. When they confronted the man in custody, he told them the truth.

"We went to the jail, and contacted the gentleman that had the car," said Sgt. Brad Gregory, "And he not only confessed to the hit-and-run earlier, but he also confessed to taking the car without asking."

Now, instead of a simple misdemeanor, he could be facing felony charges.
