Hawthorne High School in Pendleton is changing locations

Posted: Updated:

PENDLETON, OR – Pendleton School District’s alternative school, Hawthorne High School, will move its location from downtown Pendleton into the building located just north of the on-campus football field at Pendleton High.

The district is also very excited to refurbish the building t fit the needs of existing high school programs that are in need of more space.

The two career tech programs set to make the move are robotics classes and the food program the district runs, which needs more space to provide some more opportunities for its culinary students.

“We can have community events come in and run catering through that,” says Pendleton High School Principal Dan Greenough. “It's just expanding opportunities for our kids to be able to do some catering pieces as well.”

The third through fifth grade students formerly occupying the building were transitioned into Sherwood Elementary and McKay Elementary at the start of the school year.

Those schools are now suited to hold kindergarteners through fifth graders.

The plan is for the alternative school students to move into the building right after the new year, and the culinary and tech classes will move in at the start of the new semester in February.

WASHINGTON: It's barely pumpkin latte season and already signs are up advertising *flu* shots! One vaccine that's been off the market for a couple years is back this year. Two years ago the nasal spray vaccine was taken off the market because the Center for Disease Control said it was no longer effective for that particular flu season. For those who tend to get a little needle frantic, the CDC now says this year's nasal spray vaccine should be effective for this year's flu strain. I...More >>
