Detectives investigating possible gang-related homicide

YAKIMA, WA- Yakima Police Department detectives are investigating a homicide they believe could possibly be gang-related.

Around 9:00 PM Saturday night, Yakima Police Department (“YPD”) Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of East Spruce Street in regards to shots being fired. Dispatch was also advised there was a possible gunshot victim on the ground.

Upon arrival YPD officers found a 28-year-old male with gunshot wounds and who was not breathing. Medical personnel arrived and were unable to revive the victim. The victim has been identified as Eddie Abrams of Yakima.

YPD detectives were called to the scene and are investigating what possibly could be a gang-related homicide. At this point in the investigation no suspects have been identified. This Yakima’s second homicide of 2017.

Testing will include sirens along the Columbia and Yakima rivers and in portions of both Benton and Franklin counties within about 10 miles of Columbia Generating Station.
