Richland woman booked for vehicular assault after Thursday morning crash

WEST RICHLAND, WA - Officers booked 31-year-old Patricia Orem into the Benton County Jail Thursday morning on the charge of vehicular assault.

WEST RICHLAND, WA - Washington State Patrol is investigating a head on collision that closed part of State Route 240 for a couple hours early Thursday morning. It happened just before 2 a.m. near Airport Way in West Richland.

Washington State Patrol tells NBC Right Now that a 31-year-old Patricia Orem of Richland was driving westbound on SR 240 near Airport Way when she hit the jersey barrier and eventually crossed into the eastbound lanes, hitting 22-year-old Israel Davis of Kennewick. car. Davis was transported to Kadlec in Richland, where he is in critical but stable condition.

WSP says that alcohol was have been a factor in this accident. Sgt. David Kaiser says, "Just be careful, winter time driving is always dangerous, obviously we don't want anyone driving impaired in any way shape or form cause tragedies do occur."

Orem is now in police custody and could be facing vehicular assault charges.

Right now, WSP is investigating the accident
