Hanford High School varsity cheer squad places second at nationals

RICHLAND, WA - The Hanford High School varsity cheer squad earned Second Place in the Non-Tumbling Super Large Division at the National High School Cheerleading Championship February 11th-12th in Orlando, Florida. This is the first time that the HHS cheer program has cracked the top 10 at nationals. The varsity squad also placed 10th in the Game Day competition.

Varsity squad team members are: Grace Benitz, Abrianna Boarder, Krizia Brooks, Brie Buchanan, Brooklyn Jorde, Stevie Kanyid, Natalie Lawrence, Payton Mayer, Rae’Lu McBride, Kylee Mitchell, Jalen Moberg, Jordan Murphey, Michelle Ni, Caitlyn Palmer, Sydney Parsons, Jasmine Rice, Shaylee Richey, Aspen Rohrer, Kabriah Rullman, Chloe Schumacher, Grace Stephens, and Grace Sypher. The head coach is Kim Mayer.

    Emergency response officials from Benton and Franklin Counties, Energy Northwest and the Department of Energy, will conduct annual siren tests Thursday, October 18, between 10 a.m. and noon. Testing will include sirens along the Columbia and Yakima rivers and in portions of both Benton and Franklin counties within about 10 miles of Columbia Generating Station.
