Arrests made after attempted home invasion

YAKIMA, WA.-- On Sunday morning around 4:40 am, Yakima Police Department officers were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of South 46th Avenue in Yakima, for a home invasion robbery. It was reported that several masked suspects, who were armed, entered the residence and that the homeowner, who was also armed, was able to detain one of them while the others fled.

One suspect was taken into custody inside the house and his firearm was recovered. It was learned that one of the residents shot at one of the suspects inside the house. This suspect, along with an accomplice, fled out of the house and into the neighborhood. They were soon located in the area and detained. One of the suspects had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The suspect’s vehicle was located near-by, which was occupied by two male passengers. They were also detained to investigate their possible involvement.

The suspects taken into custody are juveniles. YPD detectives are investigating.
