First grade teacher wins Classroom Makeover

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA - It's time again for another Classroom Makeover surprise! This time we stopped by Canyon View Elementary School in Kennewick. A pretend staff meeting turned into a big payout for first grade teacher, Deni Wren.

Ms. Wren has been teaching for three years and a parent of a student nominated her. Her classroom is already pretty cool with some stability balls in place of chairs.

We asked her what exactly she loves about teaching...

"The kids, absolutely the kids. They come in each day and some of them this is like a second home. This is where they feel comfortable and I mean a lot of them they come in and accidentally call me mom," said Ms. Wren.

Classroom Makeover is a partnership between Kadlec and NBC Right Now. Ms. Wren wins $500 to spend on classroom supplies. She hopes to buy an area rug for the front of her room for a gathering place.

If you know a deserving teacher, you can nominate them here
