Snoqualmie drivers should prepare for daytime lane closures and full nighttime closures

Posted: Updated:

HYAK, WA – Drivers will experience single-lane closures westbound only during the day from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, February 23rd and Friday, February 24th. Over-width loads are prohibited during the day.

At night, drivers will experience full closures of I-90 in both directions:

  • I-90 westbound, Stampede Pass interchange, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and I-90 eastbound, east of the summit, 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday night, Feb. 23 to Friday morning, Feb. 24.
  • I-90 westbound, Stampede Pass interchange, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and I-90 eastbound, east of the summit, 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday night, Feb. 24 to Saturday morning, Feb. 25.

Crews will reopen both directions of I-90 every two hours to clear out traffic.

In an effort to improve visibility and safety at night on I-90, crews are installing additional reflectors along barriers and installing LED lane markers where possible. Crews are also removing built-up snow in the lanes along Keechelus Lake and cleaning the road dirt off the side panels to improve reflectivity. A reduced speed of 45-miles per hour at night will assist drivers navigating through the eastbound lanes east of the summit; the temporary speed reduction will be in effect until visibility along the lake improves.
