More than a dozen buildings in Kennewick vandalized overnight

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA - Kennewick Police Department received more than a dozen reports of vandalism at locations in Kennewick overnight and into this morning, with seven reports coming in before dawn. The reports sound consistent to each other...a brick, rock, or piece of cement thrown through a window at area businesses and residences, with no more than one window in any one building.

Reporter Rex Carlin spoke to a couple businesses this afternoon, and confusion over motive was the constant theme. Nobody Rex spoke to was robbed, someone was just throwing things through windows.

Larry Dickman says he got a call from KPD at 2:00 a.m. this morning to come down to his company's location on South Morain Street. The building's window was shattered and the flooring was damaged.

"The neighbor next [door] got his broke, and then several others," Dickman said, "so it appears that whoever it was was maybe angry at the world, or who knows, maybe he just thought he was having fun."

The next two buildings were vandalized as well. Two doors north, Walker's Furniture and Mattress was struck as well.

The security camera was pointed toward the window that was shattered, possibly giving police a clue as to who caused all this damage overnight.

KPD received seven more vandalism reports this morning, bringing the total number of reports to fourteen since last night.

If you have any information, call the non-emergency dispatch number at 509-628-0333.
