BOARDMAN, OR - Today marked the 4th annual agriculture and energy job fair in Boardman, Oregon. It's a great opportunity for both local employers and people who are looking for jobs to make connections.

The SAGE center was packed today with 38 local employers, high school students and adults well into their careers looking for other opportunities.

"I just moved to the Pacific Northwest about two months ago, and I have my degree in agriculture so I wanted to see what opportunities and jobs, and just what the agricultural industry is like out there," said Jessie Weird, who has PhD in animal nutrition.

The purpose of this event is to give people the chance to network with local food processors, utilities, data centers, farms and colleges to learn more about career opportunities.

"The primary focus is to make sure that everyone who's looking for a job, has the opportunity to visit with people who are hiring," said Kalie Davis, manager of the SAGE center. "Those partnerships and those connections are the reason why this job fair exists."

They say reaching students at the high school level is really important because they want to promote finding a career locally, so they have a thriving community for the years to come.

"We need employees and we don't have enough people who we're connecting with in order to fill a lot of these jobs and their good paying jobs," said Davis.

"It gives kids a better idea of what schools are out there and what they have to offer," said Ashley Medina, a high school senior. "It's good to know that there's a lot more local schools."
