PASCO, WA - The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security have designated Columbia Basin College as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Two-Year Education.

In a letter to CBC Information Technology Professor, Melissa DeHaan, National Program Manager, Karen Leuschner says, “Your ability to meet the increasing demands of the program criteria will serve the nation well in contributing to the protection of the National Information Infrastructure. The President’s National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace and the International Strategy for Cyberspace, addresses the critical shortage of professionals with these skills and highlights the importance of higher education as a solution to defending America’s cyberspace.”

Certificates will be presented during a reception at the National Cyber Security Summit in Huntsville, Alabama, June 6th - 8th, 2017.

CBC began its Bachelor of Applied Science in Cyber Security degree program in 2013. Currently, 62 students are enrolled in the Cyber Security program.
