Dog Park Expansion Underway

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, WA.-- There's nothing we wouldn't do for our best, furry friends, and now the Tri-City Dog Park Society is trying to make sure that all the playful pups in the area have enough room to keep them happy and healthy.

The Dog Park Society already takes care of the maintenance and conditions of the current, permanent dog park- located at Badger Mountain Community Park in Richland. But, now, they, along with the City of Richland, have just begun "Phase II" of their park project. Phase II involves the expansion of dog park space from two-and-a-half acres, to a full five acres of running room.

The Tri-City Dog Park Society has already pledged $30,000 to the project, and Richland is currently working on bids for fertilization, irrigation, and cleanup of the expansion area.

"We'll be moving forward once the City of Richland has all of the bids," Tri-City Dog Park Society President, Michelle Granbois, told KNDU "And we'll be able to start breaking ground."

As for when the project will be finished? Michelle said that while there's no set date, they're hoping they can open the new and improved park by the fall. Until then, we'll all have to sit, and stay patient.

If you'd like to donate to the cause, you can reach the Tri-City Dog Park Society on their website, or their Facebook page
