Man wanted following attempted abduction in Paterson

Posted: Updated:

PATERSON, WA - Reporter Kristina Shalhoup spoke with the Sheriff's Office today about the very brave teenager who was almost kidnapped last week in Paterson.

The suspect who attacked her is described as Hispanic, about six feet tall with a mustache. Deputies say the teen was jogging near Alderdale Road last Tuesday when the man tried to grab her. The girl used pepper spray with red dye in it and was able to get away.

Right now, Klickitat County Detectives are looking for the man wanted for attempted abduction of the 14-year-old girl.

It's a situation that would scare just about anybody, but from speaking with Chief Criminal Deputy Mike Kallio earlier today, Kristina Shalhoup learned that the girl, who was out for a run with her dog when the attack happened, handled the situation as well as anyone.

Aside from her dog, she also had pepper spray with her, and when her attacker bear-hugged her from behind and tried to pull her into the bushes on the side of the road, she sprayed him and gave herself every chance to get away.
