Connell teachers put on WWE matchup

Posted: Updated:

CONNELL, WA - Connell High School raised more than $1,500 during the first two weeks of March, but today, the students reaped the benefits of their participation in the fundraiser...a WWE fight right in the Connell gym.

Reporter Rex Carlin attended the morning of action-packed fun between the ropes.

"We're here to make a difference," said P.E. teacher, Scott Forsyth.

A WWE-style matchup between Forsyth and School Intervention Specialist Seth Kimball, but why?

The 2017 Connell High School Pennies For Patients drive for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society set a goal for $1,000 in donations, with a reward at the end if the goal was reached.

They raised $1,500.

"They went over and above and collected so much money in order to make this happen for a cause for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society," said Taylor Peterson, Connell High School ASB President.

The reward was fight night in Connell. The whole school packed into the gym to see the big matchup between "Hulk Hogan" and "Sting", and it didn't disappoint. Production quality was pretty good with a fog machine and all, with Hogan eventually taking the victory.

And it was all for a great cause.
