New West Richland STEAM school almost ready for next school year

Posted: Updated:

WEST RICHLAND, WA - Leona Libby Middle School is looking good. That's the first thing reporter Kristina Shalhoup took away from speaking with Andre Hargunani, who will be the school's principal when it starts up in August.

Leona Libby will actually be a STEAM school, an altered version of a STEM school, meaning that teachers will incorporate science, technology, engineering, arts, and math into every lesson.

The school is a neighborhood school, and 500 of the students attending, as well as a lot of the staff, will have come from Enterprise Middle School...which is less than two miles away in West Richland.

Hargunani spoke with a number of those students today, and told Kristina Shalhoup that they're all excited for the new opportunity.

As for the building itself, construction is right on schedule, with cabinets and carpeting already being put into some of the classrooms.

The first official day of school will be August 29th.
