One dead after car vs. scooter collision on SR-823 north of Selah

SELAH, WA - On March 27th before 11:40 a.m., the driver of a motorized scooter was attempting to cross SR-823 north of Selah when they were struck by a vehicle.

86-year-old Hayden H. Morrison of Selah attempted to cross SR-823 eastbound to westbound on his Victory Pride scooter, while 60-year-old Brooke A. Ashby of Selah was driving northbound on SR-823 in her 4-door Chevy Suburban. Ashby struck Morrison as Morrison was crossing SR-823.

Morrison was declared dead at Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital.

No drugs or alcohol were involved.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
