Harman Center making DIY teddy bears for Yakima PD

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA - The Yakima Harman Center is making DIY (do it yourself) teddy bears to give to the Yakima Police Department. This is all part of the Harman Center's "Help the Community Project," which includes making teddy bears out of wash cloths and face towels. All of the little bears will be donated to YPD to carry with them during emergencies involving children.

"It's going to provide comfort and build [kids'] trust back after a disaster situation," says Program Supervisor Leslie Richards.

Volunteers got together today to finish making a batch of bears to donate. The Harman Center will be still collecting any new or slightly used clean towels throughout the year to continue this project.

If you have any questions, make sure to give them a call at 509-575-6166.
