Fireworks sales begin in WA

WASHINGTON - Starting Thursday, June 28, fireworks will be available for purchase in Washington State.

Please read the following information to learn about when fireworks can be sold, purchased, used, and discharged.

Dates and Times Fireworks May Be Sold or Discharged: RCW 70.77.395 sets the allowable times for sale or discharge of fireworks.

Fireworks may be sold and purchased on the following dates and times:

  • June 28: 12:00—11:00 p.m.
  • June 29—July 4: 9:00 a.m.—11:00 p.m.
  • July 5: 9:00 a.m.—9:00 p.m.
  • December 27—31: 12:00—11:00 p.m.

Fireworks may be used and discharged on the following dates and times:

  • June 28: 12:00—11:00 p.m.
  • June 29—July 3: 9:00 a.m.—11:00 p.m.
  • July 4: 9:00 a.m.—12:00 a.m. on July 5.
  • July 5: 9:00 a.m.—11:00 p.m.
  • December 31: 6:00 p.m.—1:00 a.m. on January 1

Cities and counties may, by ordinance, further restrict the days and times when fireworks may be sold and discharged. Cities and counties may also prohibit entirely the sale and discharge of fireworks. However, any such ordinance further restricting when fireworks may be sold or discharged, or which prohibits their sale and discharge, may not take effect until at least one year after adoption, per RCW 70.77.250(4).
