Richland announces unanticipated road closure at Columbia Park Trail

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, WA - The City of Richland says that while work continues on the Queensgate Drive Improvement Projects in Richland, a portion of Columbia Park Trail will be closed to daytime traffic.

The City says that excessive caving of a sewer trench along the roadway has caused safety concerns for work crews and travelers. A portion of Columbia Park Trail will be closed to daytime traffic, in both directions, beginning Thursday, June 28, from 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The daytime closures are estimated to last no longer than Friday, July 6.  (this estimate is subject to change).

The portion of Columbia Park Trail to be closed is located just west of Windmill Road, to Queensgate Drive. Drivers who normally travel on Columbia Park Trail to access Queensgate Dr./Duportail Rd. will want to use Leslie Rd/Gage Blvd/Keene Rd. The Ben Franklin Transit Park and Ride on Windmill Road will remain accessible, as will businesses/wineries located on Tulip Lane.

The City says the safety of their staff and citizens is of utmost priority. They apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to improved infrastructure and traffic flow upon project completion.
