Vacancy on Ellensburg City Council after Jill Scheffer resigns

Posted: Updated:

ELLENSBURG, WA - A position is now available on the Ellensburg City Council after the resignation of member Jill Scheffer.

Ellensburg City Council member Jill Scheffer resigned Wednesday night, and recently accepted a position at the Washington State Department of Ecology in a role that includes oversight of the City’s compliance with its state issued storm water discharge permit. To avoid conflict issues which could arise as a result of her new responsibilities Scheffer decided to step down from her City Council position.

In Scheffer's announcement to the Mayor of her decision, she stated “It has been a genuine honor and pleasure to serve the citizens of Ellensburg since 2010. I was privileged to work on several exciting initiatives including, among many other, expanding the solar farm, updating the comprehensive plan, land use and development code updates, organizing the employee appreciation breakfasts, and creating the consolidated lodging tax process.”

The City Council will be trying to fill the vacancy created by Scheffer's resignation. Those interested in applying to fill the vacancy may do so by completing the application form available at https://ci.ellensburg.wa.us/FormCenter/Managers-Office-10/Application-for-Appointment-to-City-Coun-82.
