Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA-  Two children were hospitalized after a house caught fire this morning in Yakima.

It happened at 5:15 a.m. on the 1200 Block of Swan Ave where crews found a two story home with fire coming from every window.
An exterior attack on the fire was made until it was determined it was safe to enter to put out the remaining hidden fire, and the fire that was upstairs.

Four adults and 2 children were at home when the fire started. Prior to the arrival of firefighters, two of the adults broke out a window to the children's first floor bedroom and pulled them out of the burning building. The two children were treated by ambulance and fire companies on scene, then transported to the hospital. The children were both transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. They were last listed in stable condition.

The home is a total loss and the family is being assisted by Red Cross.

The Yakima Fire Department Investigator determined the fire had started on the inside of the structure on the first floor. The investigation is on going at this time.
