KITTITAS COUNTY, WA - A Kittitas County Sheriff's deputy's investigation of a disabled vehicle Saturday morning led to the arrest of 43-year-old Cle Elum resident for sexual assault.

On September 8 around 10:17 a.m., the deputy responded to a report of a juvenile man and adult woman in a car in the area of Game Bird Loop off of Game Farm Road.

The deputy made contact with a 14-year-old boy from Ellensburg and a 43-year-old woman from Cle Elum. Both stated they had been parked in the area talking and when they tried to leave they discovered the car broke down.

While giving the young man a courtesy ride home, Deputy Romero became concerned with his demeanor and some of his comments. While asking for some clarification, he disclosed to her that he and the adult woman were having a sexual relationship.

Deputy Romero notified detectives, who initiated an investigation that led to the arrest of Jennifer Richter for six counts of Rape of a Child 3rd Degree.

Richter has been booked into the Kittitas County Jail and is awaiting her first appearance.
