Donations pouring in for Petey the pit bull puppy

Posted: Updated:

WEST RICHLAND, WA -  Petey, a badly injured pit bull puppy, was rescued off of Rupert Road in West Richland and is getting a ton of support from strangers all over.

Petey is just 14 weeks old and is proving to be a fighter and he isn't letting a broken leg get in the way. Someone found Petey on the side of the road this week and brought him to the West Richland Police Department where he was covered in scratches and suffered a broken bone.

"I believe that someone did try and bandage it and maybe he ran off, or maybe he got left behind somewhere and he is growing so if somebody applied a bandage and then he basically grew, he out grew the bandage and it caused all these pressure wounds and sores," said Doctor Tanja Menks, Doctor of Menks' Mobile Vet Care.

Petey is currently getting treated and cared for at Doctor Menks Mobile Vet Care where he will stay for a few days before being put up for adoption at the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter in Pasco.

So far almost $1,300 in donations have been made out to Petey to help with his veterinarian bills and care.
