New youth cafe in Prosser invites public to ribbon cutting

PROSSER, WA - The Sharehouse Youth Café is celebrating its grand opening on Wednesday, October 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and invites the community to tour the facility and meet the staff. 

Sharehouse has been under renovation for almost a year, converting the former retail space into a location where Prosser youth can be engaged and encouraged in a safe environment. They are located at 613 6th St. in Downtown Prosser.

Sharehouse's mission is to create dynamic relationships with youth by encouraging and empowering them to be the difference. Sharehouse envisions powerful, positive lives rising up to inspire the community, with program focus including Mentoring, Tutoring, Empowerment Programs through the Computer Lab, Entertainment Center, the Café, Music Lessons, and Social Gathering Events. 

The center welcomes youth ages 11 to 18 years old beginning Monday, October 8 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Sharehouse is a non-profit 501(c)3 that seeks support from community members and local church congregations.

Those unable to attend the grand opening event on October 3 are welcome to join the open house that will be held on Thursday and Friday October 4 & 5 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to tour the center.

Starting Monday, October 8, the facility will ONLY be accessible to youth ages 11 to 18 years old. To ensure the safety of all youth, only adult volunteers and mentors who have been screened, will be allowed in the facility after that date.
