YAKIMA, WA - An hour before noon on Wednesday, a YCSO deputy and a YPD negotiator successfully managed to talk down a 61-year-old man who was posed to jump off the Fred Redmon Bridge near Yakima.

The Yakima County Sheriff's Office says at about 11:03 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, several people called 911 to report a man on the Fred Redmon Bridge and later that the man was sitting on the rail.

Deputies from the YCSO, Washington State Patrol troopers and officers from the Yakima Police Department responded to the scene.

A YCSO deputy and a negotiator from YPD had a conversation with the man for about 20 minutes, and were able to successfully convince him not to jump and come from the edge of the bridge where he was sitting.

The man was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation.
