Man involved in Sunday Kennewick shooting bails out of jail

KENNEWICK, WA - NBC Right Now just learned that Devan Thompson has posted the $100,000 bond for his Unlawful Possession of a Firearm warrant, and is now out.

Because he has yet to be charged for the shooting that happened last Sunday, he was only being held on the $100,000 bail for the warrant mentioned above.

Prosecuting Attorney's are waiting for Kennewick Police to finish up their investigation into the fatal shooting and once they get the information they will proceed with further charges.

6 PM

KENNEWICK, WA - 31-year-old Devan Thompson turned himself into the Benton County Jail on a warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st degree. 

According to Kennewick PD, Thompson turned himself in Tuesday afternoon.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

KENNEWICK, WA - A nationwide warrant is out for the arrest of Kennewick murder suspect, 31-year-old Devan Thompson from Everett, Washington.  Kennewick Police were told through a middle man that Thompson would be turning himself in last night, however, he is still on the run.

Police say he left the scene in a silver 2016 Nissan Rogue WA plate BJZ 5180.

KENNEWICK, WA - Kennewick Police detectives have identified 31-year-old Devan Thompson from Everett, Washington as a suspect in the shooting death of Hakim Ward. Thompson has previously lived in Pasco.

Thompson is currently wanted for questioning as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm. Police say he left the scene in a silver 2016 Nissan Rogue WA plate BJZ 5180.

UPDATE 10:10 p.m.

KENNEWICK, WA - KPD has released the information for a car that was seen leaving the area. They sent out an ATL (attempt to locate) on a 2016 Silver Nissan Rogue with the license plate number BJZ 5180.

10-7-18 ORIGINAL STORY:

KENNEWICK, WA - A man is dead after being shot on Sunday morning near the Columbia Center Mall.

Around 10:18 a.m. police were called out to the AT&T store parking lot at 1103 North Columbia Center Blvd after multiple reports that someone had been shot. When they arrived on scene they found Hakim Ward had been driven by a friend to the parking lot of Payless ShoeSource, which is right across the street. 

Medics transported Ward to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. His family has been notified.

Police do not believe this was a random act but they say there is no threat to the public. 

Kennewick Criminal Investigation Division is currently conducting a further investigation.

Chipotle, Game Stop, Target, Red Robin and other stores around the area are still open.

Police say just before 8 that night, two groups of people got into some type of confrontation and someone fired off a gun, hitting 24-year-old Sergio Rivera of Pasco.
