Two Pasco teens in juvie after firing off a gun Tuesday afternoon

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, WA - Two Pasco 14-year-old boys are in Juvenile Detention after one of them fired a Glock 9mm pistol during an argument with a 16-year-old boy.

On Tuesday afternoon at about 3:00 p.m., Pasco Police officers were in the general area of 18th Avenue and Court Street investigating a report of shots fired. Pasco High School's School Resource Officer Jon Baker found an excellent eyewitness who described two suspects in great detail, saying that one of them pulled out a pistol during an argument with a third male and fired it twice.

The two suspects are both 14-year-old Pasco boys and the third boy was 16.

PPD found the suspects near Court and 19th, hiding in a fenced yard area. Both suspects were detained and a Glock 9mm semiauto pistol was found nearby. In addition to the eyewitness, there was physical evidence collected at the scene and security video of some of the action.

According to PPD, the 16-year-old apparent victim is known but was not immediately found. There are indications that some of the kids involved are gang-related but it is unknown if the shooting was gang-motivated.

The 14-year-olds were booked into Juvenile Detention for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and the one pointed out as the shooter was also booked for Unlawful Discharge.

PPD says if the victim were to tell them that the gunshots were directed at him, then Assault charges could be considered.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information is urged to call Pasco PD at (509)545-3421 or Dispatch at (509)628-0333 about case PP18-56807 Weapons.
