Lewis Street overpass starts construction Spring 2019

Posted: Updated:

PASCO - From an underpass to an overpass Lewis Street in Pasco is building an overpass that is expected to begin Spring of 2019.

The current underpass was built back in 1937 and basically had become unsafe to use for everyday traffic. The roadway is basically a choke point, it has narrow traffic lanes and doesn't meet overhead clearance standards, forcing semi trucks to find another way around.

The plans for the new overpass will connect central business district and eastern Pasco creating a safe handicap accessible walking and biking route, which is great for the two elementary schools and middle school. The total cost for the project is just under 40 million dollars and is expected to be completed around 2021.

The City of Pasco and Downtown Pasco Development Authority had a public comment on October 9th and told me there will be more in the future.
