Senior Times Expo changes location

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA-  Hundreds of senior citizens attended the Senior Times Expo at the Southridge Sports & Events Complex today. The bi-annual event was at this venue for the first time since the start in 2013. The Senior Times and the Tri-Cities Area of Business Journal decided to switch the venues in order make it safer and more easily accessible for attendees.

The expo is intended to provide information about services for senior citizens in the area. There were drawings and giveaways throughout the day, and Winger from the Tri-City Americans even made an appearance.

Melanie Hair organized and hosted the event. She says as the Tri-Cities grow, so does the senior population, with many of the baby boomers reaching retirement age. It was important for the event to provide all the services and areas in the Tri-Cities senior community members need.

"We find that it is very helpful to people. For example at our spring expo we had a couple of people come up to us and say they really want a lawyer to be there, 'we hope for a lawyer to talk to about our will.' They were having some problems and we didn't have a lawyer who was exhibiting, but now here at our fall expo we do have a lawyer," says Hair.

The next event will be on April 16th, 2019. You can find more information on the Senior Times website here: https://www.tricitiesbusinessnews.com/expo/
