10:45 AM UPDATE:

RICHLAND, WA - The Richland Police Department provided an update Wednesday morning on the two boys who were struck by a car while crossing a street.

On Tuesday at 4:55 p.m. a 9-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy were crossing Jadwin Avenue at Wilson Street. The boys were reportedly in the crosswalk and were struck by a vehicle that was traveling southbound on Jadwin.

The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and several witnesses began caring for the boys. Both received multiple broken bones and one sustained a serious head injury.

RPD says at this time both boys are in stable condition and are being treated for their injuries. They also say the driver was cooperative and was evaluated at the time of the collision, and that there is no indication of impairment at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
