Veterans honored at Perry Technical Institute

YAKIMA, WA - There are close to 600,000 veterans in the state of Washington and as Veterans Day approaches many are starting to honor those who served, including students and staff at Perry Technical Institute.

The school held an assembly where veterans from every military branch were honored.

The movement was initiated with the help of Senator Curtis King nine years ago.

This year the director of the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs was there to recognize the school as a veterans supportive campus.

The school says this recognition marks their loyalty to those who served.

"We made a commitment to them to provide every resource that we could possibly get, so that their transition from military life to civilian life, through their career is as seamless as possible," said Adam Rieker, Veterans Advisor, Perry Technical Institute.

Rieker says as a veteran himself it is an honor to be helping other veterans succeed and to work for a school that helps them with the transition.
