The 211 Call Center serving Benton, Franklin, Yakima, Kittitas and several other counties is now up and running.
The center located at the People For People office in downtown Yakima. It will serve the Greater Columbia area.. The 211 system will make connecting to important social services easier. About three thousand services are already in the database.
"We don't provide services. We have a database. Hopefully, a pretty complete database of services in the five counties that are available when people give us specifics. We are able to guide them to the right resources. And then they can make informed decisions about what they want to do with that information," Marilyn Mason-Plunkett, CEO of People For People, said.
Mason-Plunkett says the call center will be open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm everyday. She also wanted to make sure folks know that 211 does not replace 911. It's designed to help you find out more information about social services you may need. Call 911 for all emergencies.
