YAKIMA, Wa.- Water supply numbers are out for May and the Bureau of Reclamation says farmers and fish can expect a normal year with no major drought risks in sight.
As of May 1st the water system storage is 54% full, sitting at about 71% of average. This forecast is based on flow, snow pack, and precipitation data. The Bureau of Reclamation says the outlook for this year's water supply continues to be favorable despite the below average precipitation this spring.
The May forecast indicates a full water supply for all water users, but river supervisors say there's still a number of things they're monitoring. Although the outlook is positive it's important they manage the water supply carefully especially with the low storage and dry weather forecast ahead.
