Southridge And Naches Fall At State Baseball, East Valley And DeSales Still Alive
SPOKANE, Wash - Rain, Rain go away. The rain did go away long enough for the 4A and 2A State Baseball Tournaments to resume in Spokane. The Southridge Suns started the day off right beating Ferris easily 6-0. Travis Mattair led the offensive charge with a couple hits and two RBI. The Suns would see their season come to an end in the quarterfinals though, falling to Tahoma 4-3 in a 4 p.m. start.
In the 2A's, Naches and East Valley would end up meeting in the quarterfinals after they both won their early games. Naches beat Pullman in 10 innings 9-7, and East Valley took care of Omak 6-2. When the Rangers and Red Devils met, it was East Valley winning again 4-3. East Valley will face Granite Falls at Yakima County Stadium Friday.
On Saturday, it was a pair of shutouts for the DeSales Irish. First in the morning blanking St. George's 5-0, and then Toutle Lake 6-0 at 7 p.m. at Borleske Stadium in Walla Walla. DeSales will play Mossy Rock Friday also at County Stadium.
Riverview was the only local team to advance to the 1A State Baseball Tourney. They fell in their first game at 10 a.m. up in Wenatchee to Okanogan.
