Mexican president visits Yakima, Seattle on Wednesday-Thursday
YAKIMA, Wash - The president of Mexico, Vicente Fox, begins his visit to Washington on Wednesday in Yakima. He'll tour an orchard with Governor Gregoire. Fox will travel to Seattle for meetings Thursday with business leaders and a tour of a health clinic for migrant workers. Fox will also visit Utah and California on his trip.
Washington's Hispanic population has grown by four times in the past 25 years to more than half a million -- about nine percent of the state population. Hispanics make up about half the residents in two Eastern Washington counties, Adams and Franklin.
