President Fox departs the Yakima Valley, headed for Seattle
YAKIMA, Wash. - Mexico President Vicente Fox spoke at G& G Orchards this afternoon. He spoke in Spanish and began by thanking Governor Gregoire for hosting his visit to to the Yakima Valley.
He spoke with governor Christine Gregoire in a private conversation about the need for Mexico to take an active role in being part of the solution to the immigration issue. The Governor also spoke with him about the need on the part of Washington orchardists to get rid of the 50% tariff Mexico imposes on Washington apples imports, and the need for skilled workers in Mexico and how America can work with his country to solve this issue.
Christine Gregoire answered questions from the media at the airport before boarding the plane with President Fox and flying with him to Seattle.
