Gas Prices Impact Travel Decisions

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - It will cost a Tri-Cities family 55 dollars in gas to travel in a minivan to and from Seattle Memorial Day Weekend.

Last year, when gas was $2.33 a gallon (compared to May 26, 2006 when gas cost $3.04) locally, the trip cost just over 42 dollars.

It's worse for families driving SUVs.

If you get 20 miles per gallon, the trip will cost you 69 dollars.  Last year it took just under 53.
