Stern warning about floating the river this weekend
YAKIMA, Wash. - If you have plans to float the Naches River this Memorial Day weekend, you might want to change your plans.
When you're dealing with water, especially during this time of year with the amount of run off coming from the mountains, the Yakima Fire Department warns that there are two dangers. The first is the cold and the second is the swift current, but that's not the only thing.
"We want people to be aware of the dangers out there," said Lt. Ron Vetsch, with the Yakima Fire Department. "Right now with the high water situation the banks are unstable, there is the debris in the rivers, it's just a good thing to stay away from."
