KENNEWICK, Wash. - More than 5,000 people were expected at the Toyota Center Saturday night. It's all for the World Wrestling Entertainment that's in town making their Tri-Cities debut.
The Toyota Center sales director said the WWE decided to come to the Tri-Cities because of new management at the center and renovations to the building.
Sales director Angie Mykel said it's also due to the high demand for wrestling in the Tri-Cities. Mykel said the area has always been skipped over by the WWE in past years. She said fans would have to travel to Spokane and Yakima to see a show, but that's all changing now.
For over a year people of the Tri-Cities flooded the Toyota Center with calls and emails asking when wrestling was coming to the area. Mykel said requests from wrestling fans are why the show came to the area.
