Yakima County Jail Being Checked Out by Consulting Firm
YAKIMA, Wa - A consulting firm is here in Yakima this week to help administrators at the County Jail figure out how to make the jail more secure.
The National Institute of Corrections will be looking at the jail's facility and operations over the next three days. The Director of the Yakima County Department of Corrections Steve Roberston says the NIC will submit a report with recommendations in July.
This past Friday night inmates got their hands on a metal bar and used it to break several windows.
Earlier this month an inmate tried unsuccessfully to escape by punching a hole through the ceiling in the fourth floor. It's the same way nine inmates escaped last November.
