Bush Signs Bill to Ban Protests at Military Funerals
YAKIMA, Wa - President Bush signing the "Respect for America's Fallen Heroes Act." The new law will keep protesters from disrupting military funerals.
It was passed largely in response to a church group from Westboro, Kansas that's been protesting at military funerals. Last October, they came to Yakima to protest at a military funeral for Army Sergeant 1st Class Lawrence Morrison. The groups says the deaths in Iraq are God's punishment for US tolerance of homosexuality.
This new law will not allow protests within 300 feet of the entrance of a national cemetery.
